My mom clipped and brought this comic strip with her when she visited our house last. I have it up on our fridge because it is SO Siena!

We get comments every time we take her out in public, because she charms peoples’ socks off. She cheerfully says, “Hi!” to just about everybody she encounters, and if people don’t notice her right away she really turns up the charm until they have no choice but to acknowledge her. We’ve had lots of strangers tell us about their grandbabies, or how Siena compares to their memory of their children at her age.

We’ve even had a lady happily hand over her package of soup crackers at a cafe, when Siena was eyeing them and saying “Mmmm!” (We drew the line when she was hinting that she’d love the lady’s roll, as well, even though the lady was happy to offer that, too.)

She has no problem gaining the adoration of women and the shy grins of children, but men seem to be her biggest challenge…and biggest prizes. She’s flirted with truckers, men sleeping on benches, apathetic teenagers, bookworms trying to read in peace…and with enough coy persistence she’s befriended them all.

We’re a bit worried what this all will look like in 15 years, but for now it’s cute and sweet that she’s so gregarious and trusting. Her world is full of friends and admirers she hasn’t met yet, and she just knows they’ll all love her once they’ve met her. And so far, she seems to be right. We don’t know where her extroversion comes from, but surely her cuteness comes from within.

My mom used this picture of Siena to illustrate a post she wrote about simplicity being a path to joy.
(It’s my parents’ anniversary today, so leaving a comment on her blog would be a great anniversary gift, should you be so inclined )

Siena’s little buddy London has appeared a few times on Hawk in Winter’s blog. We have pictures of London and Siena both dressed as Tigger, and dressed up for St. Valentine’s Day. I got to watch London again on Saturday and was surprised how easy it was this time! (Last time they both got hungry at the same time. Very hungry…)

This time, they started off playing in The Box. (See the post just before this one where I introduced The Box.)

I couldn’t believe that Siena, the kid who looks at me like I’m crazy if I offer a pacifier, was completely fascinated with London’s pacifier. I guess she figured if it’s good enough to be in London’s mouth, it’s worth trying in hers.

[singlepic id=209 w=218 float=right]

London didn’t put up much of a fuss…

…maybe because he got her back by trying to take the ring out of her mouth.

I washed and hid the pacifier, then put them both in “the dog run” (again, see previous post) where they had more room and more toys. London got hungry so I made him a bottle. I knew Siena wasn’t hungry, but she was very interested in London’s bottle. So I gave her a bottle of water and we were good to go.

London is an awesome napper, and since he got sleepy first I put him in Siena’s crib. He slept peacefully for the next two and a half hours until his parents came home. Once I’d nursed Siena, she fell asleep too, so I lay her on a sheepskin on the floor where she slept like an angel…for about a half hour. It was long enough for me to take some pictures though, which I had fun tweaking in Adobe Lightroom.

I finished sweeping my floors during that little window where both babies were sleeping, then got back into Momma mode once Siena was up. We all look forward to London coming over again soon. (Maybe he can teach my daughter how to nap!)
